Skills & Powers

Use Abilities As Tactical Tools, Not Random Effects

Powers change the pace of a 1v1 match, but they work best when they fit your field position and the opponent's habits. Effective ability use comes from reading the situation first and activating second.

Treat every power as part of a decision chain: create space, force a bad response, and then finish with control.

Ability Types

Four Ways Powers Usually Change A Match

Explosive Finishers

These powers amplify shot quality or create a direct scoring threat. Use them when the opponent is late to goal recovery.

Mobility Tools

Movement-based abilities help reach awkward balls or recover space. They are strongest when used before danger becomes urgent.

Disruption Effects

These abilities break rhythm, crowd the lane, or alter the opponent's timing. Save them for predictable sequences you already identified.

Using Abilities Effectively

  • Use an ability when it improves a specific exchange, not just to create activity.
  • Pair powers with body position so the follow-up touch is available if the first idea fails.
  • Hold a defensive answer if the opponent is clearly saving their strongest move for later.
  • After a successful ability, reset quickly because many players overextend after gaining an advantage.

Character Study

Match Your Style To The Right Role

Some players prefer direct finishing, while others win by forcing mistakes and controlling rebounds. Build your plan around what your chosen character does well instead of trying to copy every aggressive highlight.

Direct Striker

Best for players who like early shots, fast conversions, and quick pressure after mistakes.

Counter Specialist

Strong for players who sit compact, wait for errors, and attack open space after blocked attempts.

Control Player

Useful for players who value positioning, ball placement, and delayed power usage over constant force.

Special Situations

Best Timing For Attack Powers

Attack-oriented powers are most effective in three situations: after a weak landing, during an exposed recovery route, or when you have already pushed the opponent off the center line.

  • Use them late in a sequence, once the defense is already stretched.
  • Avoid activating too far from goal unless the effect also helps you keep possession.
  • If your power causes chaos, be ready to score off the rebound rather than expecting a clean first finish.
